The
past continuous tense is used to define movements that initiated in the past
and frequently continual for a small period of time after the act started. This
tense defines movements or actions that occurred at a exact time in the past.
These movements are usually no longer happening at the time the sentence is existence
said or written.
Structure of Sentence:Positive form:
Subject+
was/were+1st form of verbs with ing+object
Negative form:
Subject+
was/were+not+1st form of verbs with ing+object
Question form:
Was/were+subject+1st
forms of verb with ing+object
Positive form:
§ He was waiting for you.
§ She was writing a letter.
§ They were eating their food.
§ The dog was barking at them.
Negative form:
§ He was not waiting for you.
§ She was not writing a letter.
§ They were not eating their food.
§ The dog was not barking at them.
