PAST TENSE
1) Simple Past Tense-
Indicates an action happened before this moment which has no real reference to this time.
For example, "He danced within the function." (The action happened within the past, is finished and is totally unrelated to the present)
"He flew to London yesterday."
Note
a. The verb 'flew' is an irregular verb which doesn't take 'ed' within the past like regular verbs.
b. the shape of straightforward past is - verb + ed
2) past perfect tense Tense-
Indicates an action within the past that had been completed before once more or event within the past.
For example, "He had exercised before it began to rain."
"He had slept before I came back from the market."
Note
a. the shape of past perfect tense Tense is- had + verb (past participle form or the 3rd sort of the verb)
3) Past Continuous Tense-
Indicates an action happening at a while within the past or an action within the past that's longer in duration than another action within the past.
For example, "It was getting darker."
"The light went out while theywere reading."

a. the shape of Past progressive is- was/were + verb + ing
4) past perfect tense Continuous Tense-
Indicates an action within the past that happened before once more or event within the past and continued during the second event/time point within the past.
For example, "At that point , he had been writing a completely unique for 2 months."
"He had been exercising once I called."

a. the shape of past perfect tense progressive is- had + been + verb + ing
